The Portola Valley School District (PVSD) s nearly $1 million annual parcel tax measure to keep the district s programming afloat, which was on the May ballot, has officially passed. On Thursday, June 3, the San Mateo County Elections Office certified the results.
Measure S was the only item on San Mateo County s all-mail ballot May 4 special election, needed two-thirds majority to pass and received 1,972 or 75.1% votes in favor, according to an elections office press release. It has an eight-year term, expiring in 2029, and will raise $997,000 yearly.

Construction will kick off this summer at two Portola Valley schools, funded by a $49.5 million bond measure passed in 2018.
Portola Valley School District officials held virtual community meetings last week to answer questions about the upcoming Measure Z renovations, repairs and construction of new classroom buildings at Ormondale and Corte Madera schools.
Ormondale should be ready for students around August 2022, and Corte Madera is set to be complete around December 2022, said Adam Lint, director of bond and facilities for the district during one of the meetings.

Early election results show Measure S, a smaller parcel tax measure for the Portola Valley School District, is receiving the number of votes needed to pass.
By the close of election night on Tuesday, May 4, 75.3% of voters have said yes to the measure, which requires a two-thirds, or 67% voter majority, county election officials reported. Measure S was the only item on San Mateo County s all-mail ballot May 4 special election. The district is asking for less money this time around: $471 per parcel annually versus the current rate of $581. It would raise $997,000 annually for the district. It has an eight-year term and would expire in 2029.
