Tell Tales 3-18-21 There is good news on the Covid-19 front in Ottawa County. Our death total is now up to 73 deaths, up only one from last week. Also, there were only a total of eight additional cases in the county in the same time frame. The incidence of the virus is considerably lower here than in the rest of Ohio, over 20% lower. The Ottawa County Health Department is moving forward with distributing the vaccine. Happy 40th Anniversary on Monday for Jeff and Joan Bryden. Jeff was Editor for the North Coast Business Journal for many years, and also was President of the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce. Joan was a radio host on WPCR and was also President of the Kiwanis Club of Port Clinton. They live in Sarasota, Fla. now.

Tell Tales 2-11-21 The Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) reelected Ottawa County Commissioner Mark Stahl as its chairman, during the organization’s recent annual business meeting. With Commissioner Stahl in charge, Ottawa County will play an important part in determining regional planning with members in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan working on transportation, water quality, and support regional economic development endeavors that affect quality of life in the region. TMACOG’s role in transportation is to help plan roadways, rail, bike and pedestrian accommodations, and transit that will move goods and people safely and efficiently throughout the region. The staff at TMACOG compiles information that local elected officials need to set priorities and make plans.

It has been the dream of the Port Clinton Board of Education, the Port Clinton Athletic Boosters, Athletic Director Rick Domminick and especially Superintendent Patrick Adkins to find a modern home for the school’s athletic programs. With contributions by many, and especially local entrepreneurs Fred and Dawn Zink, a deal was made last August to convert the Zink Warehouse at the corner of Short and Railroad streets on Port Cinton’s East side into the red-and-white field house of their dreams.
