Portland was rocked by violent demonstrations Tuesday – even after a Minnesota jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of the murder of George Floyd.
At least two people were arrested and video first published by The Oregonian and retweeted by police showed a demonstrator dressed in all black punching a bicycle officer in the head before more officers piled on top of the suspect. Police also released photos showing shattered windows at local coffee shops and graffiti of the anarchy symbol and ACAB, an acronym meaning All Cops Are B .   ....

Additional rallies are announced for the weekend, including one Friday in the Pearl District.
Protests erupted outside the Mark Hatfield Federal Courthouse in downtown Portland as fires were set and federal service officers used chemical munitions to move the crowd back Thursday, March 11.
A group of about 50 to 60 people dressed in black were seen ripping down plywood, spray painting graffiti and setting fires. After a while, Federal Protective Officers pushed them back with tear gas and less-lethal munitions.
Over the course of about two hours, multiple skirmishes were seen as protesters set fires, officers extinguished them, then pushed the protesters back again. Tear gas was used outside the federal courthouse and protesters were arrested or detained. ....

UPDATE: Shootings and death increase after the City Council eliminated the Portland Police Bureau s Gun Violence Reduction Team.
Police have identified the victim in Friday s shooting in The North Portland Eliot Neighborhood.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner has determined that Kelley Marie Smith, 53, died from a gunshot wound and has ruled her death a homicide.
The investigation began at about 6:54 p.m. on Dec. 17 when North Precinct officers responded to a report of a shooting near North Vancouver Avenue and North Stanton Street. After officers arrived, it was determined that a person at the scene was deceased.

William Kinney III, who uses the name William X. Nietzche, faced two infractions for physical mistreatment in April.
The son of a local family leading an eviction blockade was cited twice for physical mistreatment of puppies at their red-painted North Portland home, the Portland Tribune has confirmed.
Based on witness statements, Multnomah County Animal Services officers cited William Kinney III, who uses the name William X. Nietzche, with two infractions on April 6 of this year.
Kinney was sent mailers notifying him of the infractions, and instructions that physical abuse (is) not to be used as form of punishment. Any more violations could result in more fines and or fees, according to animal services spokesman Jay LeVitre. ....
