Having a post office was vital to any community, no matter how small. Some maps would not recognize a communityâs existence if they did not have a post office.
The postmaster was the go-to person for information, complaints and keeping mail moving in and out of that post office to suit the government and its customers/patrons.
Nine men were appointed El Campo postmaster between 1890 and 1936. Christian Bruns was appointed March 17, 1890. A land agent for Weimar Land Co., he resigns as more people arrive and more land is sold.
Eckhard Rauch is appointed July 26, 1890 (the first clerk is John Engholm). August Natho replaces Rauch on Jan. 25, 1892. ....

One by one, the Marines approached the podium to speak about their brothers-in-arms killed in Sangin, Afghanistan. Each of the 25 men who died with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment during the tour that ended this month was honored Friday at Camp Pendleton by a Marine who knew him best.

“Combat is two men armed with clubs standing toe-to-toe beating the sh-t out of each other until one dies.”
That was the succinct definition of combat by an Army battle buddy of mine in Iraq, a very highly decorated, extensively experienced Infantry senior officer. What does this extraordinarily accurate definition of combat mean for women who wish to serve in combat arms and are being told they have equal capabilities for the face-to-face fight as men? The short answer is: Size matters as does weight and pure physical capability for in-your-face actual combat.
What is the realistic truth of women in combat?
