The field next to Bannon Park owned by the PMHA is up for disccussion after plans of removing some of the green space for a parking lot raised concerns.
PORTSMOUTH Residents of Portsmouth have come together to save a community treasure from being demolished.
After word got around that Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority (PMHA) planned to remove part of the green space next to Bannon Park and turn it into a parking lot, residents, community leaders and the 14th Street Community Center have been fighting to save the green space and continue to give children a safe place to play.
Work needed on courthouse skyroof system

SCIOTO During its Thursday session, the Scioto County Commissioners reviewed and passed all 12 items on its agenda.
Among the dozen, the commissioners authorized the clerk to advertise a bidding notice for the skyroof system replacement at the county courthouse.
Commissioner Bryan Davis described that situation as a “continued problem,” which covers the rotunda and law library. It is separate from the other portion of the roof.
“We had a professional come in and look at the panels,” he said of the board’s fifth item. “They have reached the end of their life, probably way beyond the life span for those panels.”
Portsmouth Master Plan includes Future Land Use Plan

In the strengths and opportunities map results, the Boneyfiddle District and Chillicothe Street Downtown received the most votes. The East End was identified as the city’s greatest challenge but also received many votes as an opportunity area for the city as well.
PORTSMOUTH Portsmouth’s new Master Plan – Elevate Portsmouth, released early this year, contains a “Future Land Use Plan” as an important component of the city’s development envisioned by the MKSK firm in Columbus along with local city officials, Scioto Foundation personnel and area representatives.
The Land Use Plan is to be accompanied by a Housing Study conducted by the Greater Ohio Policy Center, now underway. The Future Land Use Plan is a statement of policy to be used as a guide for development and infrastructure decisions, according to the Master Plan.
