BHARU: Kelantan police believed they have successfully busted a drug trafficking syndicate in Tanah Merah with the arrest of five men, aged between 18 and 60, and seizures of various types of drugs worth RM120,000.
State Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department chief ACP Sheik Azhar Sheik Omar said that the success was through two raids and seizures carried out by his team yesterday.
“Among those detained were two family members, aged 18 and 60, in an area in Tanah Merah, and these two possessed a luxury car and various other vehicles,” he said in a press conference at the Kelantan police contingent headquarters here today.

All have been remanded and there are those whose remands will be extended, said Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Fadzil Ahmat in a text message to the media on Wednesday (Feb 3).
He added that a police sweep under Ops Cantas was initiated by the Selangor Criminal Investigations Department. Other CIDs in the Selangor contingent have also been mobilised. At the same time, the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department has also been mobilised under this Ops Cantas, he added.

JOHOR BAHRU: Johor police arrested 716 people, comprising 532 migrants and 184 skippers, in operations between April and December last year aimed at tackling the issue of migrant smuggling in the state.
Johor Police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said of the total, 77 suspects, including 19 enforcement officers, had been prosecuted for organised crimes under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 and six others under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (POCA).
According to the Johor Police Performance Report for 2020 and Johor Police chief’s message that was circulated to the media today, five senior officers and 225 police personnel were subjected to disciplinary action last year.

JOHOR BARU, Jan 26 An alleged drug syndicate head, his girlfriend and three other men were charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today for drug-trafficking activities that saw the seizure of more than RM340 million in narcotics by the Johor police earlier this month.
The accused, Goh Chee Kuang, 44, Lee Chia Hui, 33, Lye Chang Pung, 39, Lye Chang Lim, 35, and Bally Paw Shaw Kiat, 38, face 18 charges together.
