Malta’s Notarial Archives store a treasure trove of information and history about Malta and its people.
Sarah Carabott met up with the women who, led by Joan Abela who became known as Joan of Arc(hives), have made it their mission to save the archives.

It all started in 2002, when Joan, then an undergrad student, stepped into the decaying building on St Christopher Street in Valletta. When she inhaled the smell of mould and saw the desperate state of thousands of notarial volumes covered with layers of dust, she knew she had a mission to accomplish.

FITTING FINALE: The Meraki Duo will bring the curtain down on the Bishop Auckland Music Society season
BISHOP Auckland Music Society (BAMS) has unveiled its 2021 season, which is due to kick off on Friday, June 11, provided Covid-19 restrictions allow.
The monthly concerts are held in Bishop Auckland Methodist Church, opposite the town’s hospital.
The season begins with the visit of pianist Florian Mitrea.
He performed his debut recital at the Bozar Centre in Brussels in 2020 and has undertaken his first solo tour with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
His June concert includes work by Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt.
