Big Bocs Bwyd project THREE Ammanford schools will soon have access to an award-winning project which has seen a converted shipping container become a focal point for hands-on learning about food as well as a place where low income families can stock up on free or reduced price provisions. The Big Bocs Bwyd (BBB) Project helps children develop an early understanding of healthy food choices while providing affordable priced food to families in the community who may be in need of support. The Welsh Government is providing £100,000 to establish a further five BBB shipping containers in schools across the valleys task force area, working in partnership with the Valleys Regional Park. ....

Empty homes grant was widened to include the Amman and Gwendraeth Valleys MORE than 500 applications have been received to bring empty homes back in to use across south Wales, including the Gwendraeth and Amman Valleys. Phase one of the Welsh Government’s £10 million Valleys Taskforce empty homes grant scheme was launched a year ago by Deputy Minister for Economy and Transport Lee Waters, after a successful roll-out across Rhondda Cynon Taf. The scheme is open to home owners across the extended Valleys Taskforce across south Wales from Carmarthenshire to Torfaen in East Wales. Its boundaries were also extended last year to include the Gwendraeth and Amman Valleys. ....
