The lawyer for an off-duty Pawtucket police officer charged with shooting a teenager who had stopped to pick up a pizza in West Greenwich says his client took the actions he did to “protect and preserve life.”
Michael J. Colucci represents officer Daniel Dolan, who now faces four felony assault charges after he shot and wounded the West Greenwich teen on the evening of June 23, minutes after the teen’s black Audi sped past him on Route 95.
“All the actions, in my opinion, taken by Officer Dolan were to protect and preserve life from the initial effort to prevent a tragic accident on the highway to the taking of instant action to render medical assistance to this young man at the [shooting] scene,” Colucci told The Journal on Friday. ....

A Pawtucket, Rhode Island police officer is facing four felony charges after he allegedly shot without justification toward a car filled with allegedly unarmed teenagers who were exiting a pizzeria parking lot. The officer’s bullet struck the driver in the upper arm, the Office of the Rhode Island Attorney General said Friday.
