Tennessee workers at military research facility continue strike for health and safety Approximately 670 skilled workers at the Arnold Engineering and Development Complex (AEDC) in Tullahoma, Tennessee, voted overwhelmingly on Friday to reject a new contract proposal, choosing instead to continue a strike that began on July 2. The deal had been reached between the Air Engineering Metal Trades Council (AEMTC) union and the workers’ employers, National Aerospace Solutions, LLC (NAS) and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc., which are contractors for the AEDC. This story has been updated to include a statement issued from NAS. At 1 p.m. today, members of the Air Engineering Metal Trades Council (AEMTC) officially went on strike at Arnold Air Force Base. Negotiations between NAS, Chugach and AEMTC did not yield a new collective bargaining agreement before the previous agreement between NAS and AEMTC members expired at 11 p.m. Wednesday, June 30. AEMTC members did not immediately go on strike, however. They chose Friday afternoon to make their move. A small group of picketers gathered outside Gate 2 of Arnold Air Force Base, which was pre-designated by AEDC Commander Col. Jeffrey Geraghty as the official protest spot earlier this week. ....
