Washington’s multi-faceted blockade has been intensified more than ever before, and the Covid-19 pandemic struck a cruel body blow to the island’s tourism economy, its principal source of foreign hard-currency income.
As the island’s sole political party, the PCC has faced a seemingly endless array of problems. Its historic leadership, lead by Raúl Castro, was stepping aside to make room for a new generation raised in and products of, Cuba’s revolutionary system.

Havana, Apr 16 (Prensa Latina) The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today greeted the beginning today of the 8th Congress of the country s Communist Party (PCC). In a message posted on his Twitter account, the president assured that ideas are strengthened at the meeting, history is recognized and the future is discussed.
According to the call, one of the purposes of the conclave is to update the resistance and development agenda, in particular the socialist model of the Caribbean nation.

Havana, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) Cuban foreign trade companies and private enterprises on Wednesday exchange views at the Cuba 2020 Business Forum about their experiences in implementing export-to-import possibilities.
When opening the virtual session, Vivian Herrera, director general of Foreign Trade of Cuba´s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, recalled that Cuba has 37 state-owned companies approved to provide private producers with such services.
The measure, she said, is part of the implementation of Cuba s Economic Social Strategy and the 2030 Development Plan in order to link private initiatives to the productive chain of national institutions.
