Chhattisgarh government's English medium schools' makeover is a breather for parents

CHHATTISGARH: The Chhattisgarh government’s push for providing quality education in English language in government schools since last year has had young parents heave a sigh of relief.
The government-owned English medium schools cater to poor or underprivileged children who usually take English language as a preserve of the elite.
Fifty-two such schools with adequate makeover have come up in different districts since last year and have witnessed a huge flow of applications for admission. As many as 30,183 students were enrolled in these schools which have 1,650 sanctioned posts of qualified teachers.
“We are moving ahead to complete one of our dream projects to ensure greater access to quality education in uniquely conceptualised English medium government schools. Improving education should remain a critical area of investment and the students’ performance should be the indicator of success”, says Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. ....

The students were brimming with excitementseeing friends and teachers after a gap of many months.
But, strict instructions right from wearing masks, washing hands at frequent intervals to mandatory social distancing gave a formal colour to their first day in schools, when they reopened partially in Kerala on Friday.

Schools reopen in Kerala, Karnataka, Assam amid strict Covid-19 regulations


The chatter was back on campuses as schools in Kerala, Karnataka and Assam reopened after several months with strict COVID-19 regulations such as wearing masks, thermal screening, washing hands and mandatory social distancing.
Though many students attended school, with letters of consent from their parents, some chose to continue education online with their guardians anxious about the pandemic situation and the emergence of a new strain of the novel coronavirus.
India on Friday reported a single-day rise of20,035new COVID-19 cases which pushed the country s virus caseload to1,02,86,709. The death toll increased to 1,48,994 with 256 fresh fatalities, according to Union Health Ministry data. ....

I am really excited to be back in my school, I have never thought that I can spend time with my friends at this campus again, a thrilled Akhila, a 10th standard student of a city school here, said. Parvathy, another student, said she was fed up attending online classes and she had really missed actual classroom studies. Online class is a good option at this time of crisis. But, it cannot give the feel and positivity provided by an actu ....
