ASTORIA, OREGON – Buoy Beer Company will celebrate February with the continued development of projects and the welcoming of a new team member. The fourth vintage of Love, Lost at Sea will release on February 14th throughout Buoy Beer’s Oregon and Washington distribution area. Barrel-Aged Black Is Beautiful Imperial Coffee Stout, a continuation of the joint project with Fort George Brewery, is available at Buoy Beer, Fort George Brewery, Pilot House Distilling’s Portland tasting room, and Adrift Hotel.
With the growth and expansion of the past few years along with plans to expand the brewery in 2021, Kevin Shaw, Buoy’s original head brewer (now Director of Brewery Operations), began to search for a replacement to take over the day-to-day operations of the brewery and lead the team. The new head brewer position will allow the brew staff in R&D to stretch their wings and continue developing beer projects.

Buoy Beer Company just announced the addition of a new Head Brewer. Paul Anderson joins the team, bringing with him a brewing pedigree that includes work at Deschutes Brewery and Ordinance Brewing.
The brewery also announced the release of two beers. One is a new version of Love, Lost at Sea. The other is the Barrel-Aged Black Is Beautiful Imperial Coffee Stout, a joint effort brewed with help from some local partners.

After joining forces in 2019, Buoy Beer & Pilot House Distilling are set to expand on the Riverwalk in their hometown of Astoria, Oregon.
The distillery, as part of a recent expansion plan, let it be known it is set to move into a former fish processing plant adjacent to Buoy Beer. The new facility will include a new 5,000-liter copper pot still and column, a new fermentation cellar with a mash mixer and a mash filter, and a 12,000 square foot second floor devoted to barrel aging. Relocation and the new equipment will allow the team to ramp up production, as well as expand the whisky and bourbon lines.
