U17s Seventh in Belgium Sunday, 12th May 2013 19:30 Town’s U17s finished seventh at the Voskescup tournament which was hosted by Belgian club SC Lokeren this weekend. Midfielder Byron Lawrence, who made his senior debut on the final day of the 2011/12 campaign, top scored for the Blues with four goals. After ending Saturday joint-second in their group having been unbeaten after one win and two draws, the young Blues completed their group games with a 1-1 draw with AA Gent this morning, Lawrence scoring from the penalty spot. They needed to beat eventual winners K Sint Truidense to reach the final but lost 2-1 - Lawrence again netting - and ended up fourth in their group of five. ....
U17s Lose to Colchester Saturday, 4th May 2013 18:13 A Byron Lawrence penalty couldn t prevent a Town U17 side from losing 3-1 at home to Colchester in a friendly on Saturday morning. The Essex side took a fourth minute lead when Macauley Bonne laid the ball into the path of Jack Curtis, who lifted the ball over Michael Crowe and into the net. Colchester s front pairing linked up three minutes later to double their lead, Bonne flicked on a long ball and Curtis calmly side-footed past the advancing Crowe. The U s scored a third after 13 minutes when a lucky break allowed captain Sam Szmodics to round Crowe and tuck the ball into an empty net from a tight angle. ....
Smith at Left-Back at Doncaster Saturday, 28th Apr 2012 11:44 Tommy Smith is set to start at left-back in place of the injured Aaron Cresswell as Town end their campaign at Doncaster. Ibrahima Sonko, who leaves the club after today’s match, will partner Damien Delaney at the centre of the defence. Sonko’s inclusion is one of two changes with Lee Martin returning to the team in his role behind lone striker Michael Chopra. Neither Grant Leadbitter nor Lee Bowyer are included in the squad, while Jimmy Bullard and 16-year-old Byron Lawrence are on the bench.
