SHARE ON: Quesnel City Hall (G Henderson, MyCaribooNow.com staff) The City of Quesnel will no longer be making a bid to host the 2024 BC Winter Games. While Council received a resolution of partnership from the Lhtako Dene First Nation and letters of support from both the Cariboo Regional District and Quesnel’s Board of Education among others, it didn’t get the necessary endorsement from the School District’s partners, namely from CUPE and the Teachers Association. Many on Council, including Mitch Vik, were disappointed. He wanted to know if they could submit an incomplete bid and get the missing letter later. ....

Quesnel City Council applies for funding for Gold Pan back drop SHARE ON: Proposed backdrop for Gold Pan (GHenderson-MyCariboonow-staff) Quesnel’s Gold Pan was once again an item on the agenda at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, this time the formal intention on how to pay for the back drop, some signage, landscaping and lighting. Even City Manager Byron Johnson made light of the situation, in making a recommendation… “Just because we can’t get enough I’m talking about the Gold Pan. Council had quite an extensive discussion as part of our capital plan process which was formally approved to do the Gold Pan project. At that point in time staff said we would apply to NDIT for grant funding for 30 thousand dollars to help offset the cost of the work that we plan to do with the Gold Pan sign.” ....

It is for roughly 2 1/2 million dollars to the investing in Canada Infrastructure program under the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure stream. Community Development Coordinator Lindsay Blair went over a few of the details… “The project is for fire hall number one upgrades, upgrades and renovations which will include things like fire barrier walls, upgraded doors and hardware, new life safety and lighting systems, replacing mechanical systems, replacing plumbing.” ....
