Hartford (13-1) used a pair of quick first-half bursts to take control, riding six-goal performances from Adi Cadwell and Zoe Pfeiffer to victory. Cadwell, Caroline Hamilton (four goals) and Pfeiffer scored within the game’s first three minutes to get Hartford started. The Canes took control for good with four goals in less than two minutes from Chloe Jensen, Pfeiffer and twice from Cadwell late in the half and cruised from there.

Kaeley Skakalski won a singles tiebreaker and fought off five match points in her doubles match with partner Keira Hines, giving the D-III Raiders two key points in a 6-3 win over D-II Bow at the Carter Community Building Association courts. Crisi Patel also contributed wins in singles and doubles for Lebanon (1-0). Bow reached the finals of the D-II tourney in 2019, losing to Portsmouth.

Mascoma (2-0) slapped out nine hits and got two-hit performances from four batters two of whom delivered home runs to get the win. “The girls have shown up this week, stepping up to the plate and filling the holes left by seniors who were touring colleges,” Mascoma coach Chris Thurston said. “Now we are looking forward to next week’s games against Hanover, when the team is back to full strength.”

Kevin Pillsbury won, 8-0, at No. 3 singles for Hanover. Evan Yang, Alex Rockmore, Alex Stevens, Zhiwen Liu and Zach Pearson all added 8-1 wins. Yang/Rockmore had a dominant 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Pillsbury/Stevens (8-2) and Liu/Pearson (8-4) also won in doubles. “Getting out the first-match jitters from either having had almost two years without a season or having it be your first varsity match, we stepped it up against a novice Keene squad,” Hanover coach Jarrod Shaheen said.
