Fairview Park mayor talks about ‘challenging’ first year in office

FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio When Patrick Cooney took office earlier this year, the first-time mayor had quite the welcome in the form of a pandemic that required him to hit the ground running.
“It was challenging but, obviously, I learned a lot,” Cooney said. “Some days were tough. You’d have a problem that you were working on addressing and then the governor would make a decision or things would change and what you were working on went out the window.
“You had to develop some flexibility, of course, but also it required me to really dive deep into the budget and see where we could do things, what was available and what we could put off.” ....
