People attend a memorial event for the victims of the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School at Pine Trails Park in Parkland. The circles were drawn by organizers to help people stay distanced in the time of coronavirus.
The city held a livestream of the commemoration on its social media pages for people who couldn t or didn t feel comfortable gathering in person this year due to the coronavirus.
Before the ceremony even started, about 200 people had already gathered in person at Pine Trails Park in Parkland to remember the 17 people who died in the 2018 school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The survivors of the war zone have stories which even three years later, are hard to fully comprehend.
Daniela is in college now, but she literally carries a piece of that day with her. She has bullet fragments embedded in her body. Daniela says she assumed it was a drill, how could someone actually be firing a real assault rifle at her and her classmates?
“But that’s when I, like, saw blood in the floor and my pants were filled with blood and I was like, oh, maybe this is for real,” Daniela said.

The City of Parkland (City) will host a Community Commemoration on Sunday, February 14, 2021 to honor the 17 victims and the MSD Community. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Pine Trails Park and the City will observe this as a Day of Love and Remembrance.
Event Overview
Support services will be available at Pine Trails Park beginning at 5:30 p.m. in addition to off-site wellness resources listed below that are always available to the community. The event will include therapy dogs on-site, display boards where the community can write messages, a brief commemoration ceremony, and video honoring the victims and supporting the MSD community.
