Voice of the Consumer: Be wary of scammers looking to take advantage of CARES Act funding

In the year since the bill passed, scammers have been taking advantage of it.
According to the IRS’s Criminal Investigation Division, the agency investigated more than 350 tax and money laundering cases nationwide, totaling $440 million. Most of the investigations focused on fraudulently obtained loans, credits and payments.
“IRS Criminal Investigation’s mission is to support our nation’s tax system, which in turn helps support the priorities outlined in the CARES Act,” said Special Agent in Charge Andy Tsui from the IRS’s Denver Field Office. “Our special agents will use their financial expertise to investigate and recommend for prosecution those who attempt to defraud the CARES Act programs that were established to help taxpayers in need.” ....

Voice of the Consumer: With COVID vaccines open to all Coloradans, here's how to schedule an appointment

Now that all Coloradans ages 16 and up are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine, I want to make sure you have all the resources you need to schedule an appointment.
The state opened up vaccines to everyone last Friday. People 16 and up can get the Pfizer vaccine, which is two doses. People 18 and up can get the two-dose Moderna or one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccines. Even though everyone in Colorado is now eligible, Gov. Jared Polis says it will likely take a few weeks before everyone who wants a vaccine can get one.
“We still anticipate by mid- to late-May, so that’s less than two months, six to eight weeks from now, everybody who wants a vaccine will have had the vaccine,” Polis said. “So it will take six to eight weeks.” ....
