To meet the demand for French public education in the Blind River area, the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l Ontario (CSPGNO) developed a partnership with the Algoma District School Board (ADSB). With this new partnership, parents and students will have the opportunity to access French public Kindergarten to Gr. 8 programming.
École publique de Blind River will be located at 147 Woodward Avenue and the partnership between the ADSB and WC Eaket Secondary School will officially begin in September 2021.
The school welcomes its new principal Hélène Rancourt, who brings over 15 years of teaching experience and seven years’ experience as a guidance counsellor.

A Eureka woman wanted in connection to an Elk River burglary last month has been taken into custody.
On Jan. 31, 2021, at about 1 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 9000 block of Elk River Road near Eureka for the report of a burglary.
The victims told deputies that sometime between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. that day, an unknown number of suspects reportedly entered the residence without permission, stealing electronics and jewelry. A nearby neighbor reportedly witnessed a suspicious vehicle near the residence during this timeframe and was able to provide deputies with a specific, identifying description of the vehicle.
