On December 17, 2020, the Union Cabinet had approved a proposal for the auction of 2,251.25 MHz of spectrum worth Rs 3.92 lakh crore at base price.

The bidding for the sixth round of spectrum auction will commence from Monday (March 1), the centre had said in a notice issued in January 2021. The auction will be for radio waves worth Rs 3.92 lakh crore. On December 17, 2020, the Union Cabinet had approved a proposal for the auction of 2,251.25 Megahertz (MHz) of spectrum worth Rs 3.92 lakh crore at reserve price.
“By winning the right to use spectrum through the auction, incumbent telecom service providers will be able to augment their network capacity whereas new players will be able to start their services,” an official release from the government read. ....

New Delhi: After Airtel, telecom major VodafoneIdea has also approached the Supreme Court seeking recalculation of AGR dues. Vodafone Idea claims excess demand of Rs 24,000 crore. Note that the company is facing total AGR demand of Rs 58,254 core and has so far paid Rs 7,854 crore.
If only licence fee will be considered, VI s total dues will come down to Rs 28,308 crore. Vodafone Idea has cited errors of double-counting of revenue, unaccounted payments, inadmissible deductions. Sources familiar with the matter said, VodafoneIdea is seeking a clarification, pointing out that the arithmetical errors in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) (AGR ....

New Delhi: The Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dispute is far from over. Bharti Airtel has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking recalculation of AGR dues it is bound to pay to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). While Bharti Airtel has already paid over Rs 18,000 crore out of the total AGR dues of Rs 44,000 crore sought by the DoT, its self-assessment had pegged its total dues at Rs 13,004 crore.
Bharti Airtel has contended that AGR payments which were made earlier weren t factored in by the DoT while raising demands for different circles and years. The petition claims that duplication in revenue addition by adding it twice from different audit reports, errors of omission and commission led to rise in AGR dues, alleging that an incorrect interest rate was applied to raise demands for Spectrum Usage Charge (SUC). ....
