Photo courtesy: Town of Wareham The fate of a town-owned building at 4 Recovery Road is once again unknown after Baystate Labs a company that planned to conduct cannabis testing at the site asked to terminate its lease. The Baystate Labs facility would have been located in the building that used to house the Christopher Donovan Day School, which has since moved to the Hammond School in Onset. The Board of Selectmen approved the negotiation of a host community agreement with Baystate Labs on Feb. 10, but that approval was contingent upon the 4 Recovery Road lease being executed. ....
Wareham Selectmen talk trash and cash Wicked Local WAREHAM – Selectmen are considering trash discounts for seniors, seasonal homeowners and abatements for people who have another means of disposing their trash. But Selectman Patrick Tropeano noted the board had a lot of work to do to determine what can actually be done. Town Administrator Derek Sullivan said during Tuesday s meeting they had initially hoped to steer clear of discounts in the trash program’s first year to make sure that revenue would be adequate to keep it running without needing more money. But $125,000 was saved at the outset when hauler ABC agreed to buy the program’s trash bins. Sullivan added, though, that the $125,000 “will be eaten up quickly.” ....
Madison Czopek Feb 10, 2021 Two companies that hope to conduct cannabis testing at laboratory sites in Wareham are now one step closer to that goal. At their Feb. 9 meeting, the Board of Selectmen voted to authorize the negotiation of marijuana host community agreements with both Smithers and Baystate Labs. Once host community agreements are in place, the companies will be able to file applications for licenses from the Cannabis Control Commission. Jesse Alderman, counsel for Smithers, noted that it typically takes many months for the state to grant licenses. “So we would just be getting, basically, in the CCC pipeline,” Alderman said. ....
