UNITED NATIONS: India’s bid to assume the chairmanship of some of the most important subsidiary bodies of the UN Security Council could not muster support from other members of the 15-nation body, according to diplomatic sources. The sources said that the Indians pushed for, but failed, to secure the chairmanship of the powerful 1267 Al-Qaeda/Daesh Sanctions Committee and the 1540 Non-proliferation Committee and also to become the custodian of the Afghanistan file in the Security Council.
Aware of India’s narrow bilateral agenda to utilise the Al-Qaeda and Daesh Sanctions Committee for its own purposes, the vast majority of the Council members were opposed to giving India the chairmanship of this key committee. Peter Lindner, born on 16 March 1930 in Düsseldorf, was a German importer and distributor for both Aston Martin and Jaguar, as well as a successful racing driver.
In 1957 Lindner met with Sir William Lyons who was clearly impressed and he was appointed official Jaguar importer for the Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Working panels to replace panchayat bodies in Jharkhand | Ranchi News

Ranchi: As the term of the elected representatives of the panchayat bodies in the state ended on Thursday, the Jharkhand government has notified setting up of working committees in all three levels of the rural local bodies in which the elected members will be members. The arrangement was adopted by the Madhya Pradesh government recently.
The state has over 4,000 panchayats and the polls are delayed in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the notification, the committees will function till the time fresh polls take place.
Talking to TOI, state panchayati raj director Aditya Ranjan confirmed the new arrangement stating that the former panchayat representatives have been put in the new working committees by giving them equal powers but they will have to work in tandem with all other members in the committees which will also have government-nominated members. ....
