Disgrace to democracy
In the same way that co-option (a mechanism to replace MPs who die or are incapacitated) has been ‘gamed’ by the Labour and Nationalist parties to get anyone they want into parliament, the just-approved gender-correcting mechanism will also be manipulated.
The two big parties now have an incentive not to put women on their ticket so that they get six extra seats each without effort. The number of MPs with no or few votes from the electorate (already high) will soar. Taxpayers will pay for this monetarily (MPs are expensive) and democratically.
These MPs plucked out of nowhere will not be accountable to a constituency because they won’t have one. Instead, they will be beholden to the party leaders on whose grace and favour their political life depends. Shame that the PN, once a champion of democratic norms, went along with this underhanded power grab. No wonder that civil-rights-minded individuals have switched from supporting the PN to backi ....

Where’s the jab?
I read on The Sunday Telegraph) that in the UK (population 60m+) all the over-50s will have been offered the vaccine by mid-April and all adults will be dealt with before the summer holidays. And, yet, in Malta (pop 400,000+), we haven’t yet got round to inoculating the over-75s.

Tech Data announced that David Watts has been promoted to the role of senior vice president, UK and Ireland.
As part of a planned leadership change, Watts extends his current role as operational leader of Tech Data’s UK and Ireland business to assume the strategic development responsibilities previously held by Andy Gass. Gass continues in Tech Data’s European leadership team with an expanded role.
Watts joined Computer 2000 – which later became Tech Data UK&I – in 1998 and initially held positions in sales and management before becoming general manager of the PC division in 2003. Subsequently, he joined Samsung Electronics as head of ita UK display division before returning to Tech Data in 2007 as commercial director. He was appointed managing director, UK and Ireland, in an acting capacity in 2016 before taking the role permanently in February 2018. ....

Tech Data has shuffled its executive structure, giving staffer David Watts the chance to extend his UK & Ireland management role.
The distributor has promoted Watts to senior vice-president, UK & Ireland, stepping into the shoes that had been filled by Andy Gass, who is moving to a fresh role.
Gass will continue to be part of the European leadership team with a brief to focus all his attention on the channel player’s digital transformation efforts in the region. ....
