May 7, 2021 - The Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) today confirmed that lawsuits have been filed in the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan federal court against companies in West Virginia, California, Oregon and New York, that continue to defy state liquor laws by illegally shipping alcohol directly to consumers.
These lawsuits filed by Attorney General Dana Nessel on behalf of the Commission serve as an important deterrent against other companies violating the state s liquor laws and jeopardizing the health, safety, and welfare of Michiganders, said MLCC Chair Pat Gagliardi. The Commission will continue its vigorous enforcement efforts to combat the illegal direct shipping of alcohol into this state, and to send a strong message that if you wish to sell ....

Moderation in Alcohol Consumption Urged Among Older People
May 6, 2021 - Keep tabs on your alcohol consumption especially if you are getting older, have health issues or take medications, urges the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Director Elizabeth Hertel and the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) Chair Pat Gagliardi as they recognize May as Older Americans Month.

Keep alcohol in check as consumption and binge drinking increases | News, Sports, Jobs

Apr 5, 2021
As Michiganders continue to deal with pandemic-induced stress and anxiously look forward to getting back to a “new normal,” the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Director Elizabeth Hertel and the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) Chair Pat Gagliardi urge moderation in drinking as they recognize April as Alcohol Awareness Month.
“The stresses of COVID-19 over the last year have stretched the limits of otherwise moderate drinkers and we’re seeing an increase in alcohol consumption and binge drinking that can result in long-term health issues,” said MDHHS Director Elizabeth Hertel. “Excessive drinking can compromise a person’s immune system, which is a big concern during this pandemic. Additionally, drinking in excess causes issues like depression and can affect your sleep and digestion in addition to other side effects. If you drink alcohol, be aware of how much you’re consuming and always do so in moderation.” ....
