Abilene rainfall runs ahead of normal, with more moisture expected

Weather service meteorologist Pat O Quinn said 0.96 of an inch fell here in a 24-hour period, according to measurements taken at Abilene Regional Airport.
Additional rain was expected later in the day, he said.
The area has seen decent rainfall, both throughout the month and compared to normal yearly totals, O Quinn said.
The rain total for the month so far is 1.74 inches. The monthly average is close to 3 inches.
For the year, the 9.47 inches recorded as of noon was 1.87 inches above normal, O Quinn said. ....
