A 32-year-old police detective has been arrested after criminal justice computer databases were accessed for an inmate already in jail, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office.
Bionca D. Williams, a seven-year veteran of the department, was charged Wednesday with accessing information on police computers without authority, Undersheriff Pat Ivey said. Her bail was set at $20,000.
As the investigation into Williams continues, she becomes the fifth police officer sent to jail so far this year versus 11 in 2020, Ivey said. She was doing it for the purposes of discussing active investigations with an inmate within our jail system, Ivey said. . She has chosen not to resign, so we have a process in place and we will make no bones about it; we will move to terminate this employee.
