Ex-Ugandan rebel commander Dominic Ongwen has been convicted of war crimes at the International Criminal Court.
Thursday’s historic ruling also saw him convicted of forced pregnancy – a legal first in an international court.
Ongwen, a feared commander of the notorious Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), is the first member of the LRA to appear before the court.
He was convicted on 61 of the 70 counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes he faced. ....

The Hague, Feb 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Feb, 2021 ) :The International CriminalCourt has convicted a child soldier-turned-Lord s Resistance Army commander of war crimes and crimes against humanity during a reign of terror in Uganda.
Dominic Ongwen, 45, was found guilty Thursday of 61 charges including multiple murders, rape and sexual enslavement by the rebel group, plus the first ever conviction by the Hague-based court for the crime of forced pregnancy.
Judges dismissed defence claims that Ongwen who was abducted by the group as a nine-year-old boy was himself a victim of the notorious LRA, led by the fugitive Joseph Kony. ....
