The school board will start its meeting at 5 p.m. in closed session to have a conference regarding labor negotiations in response to the teachers’ union “demand to bargain” letter, dated Jan. 10, objecting to the school district s return-to-campus plans, posted on the Jan. 13 school board agenda. In the letter, the teachers union President Angie Genasci wrote, in part: The membership feels that the current plan of (1) bringing elementary students back to campus for two days in this and next week and beginning a full hybrid schedule the following week and (2) bringing the middle and high school students back to campus at the end of January before we know if the case rates have lowered to the guidelines set forth by our Governor, is not one that is taking into consideration the physical safety of our students or staff. ....

(Photo from Sheridan Media files) With new trustees in place, members of the board of Sheridan County School District 1 elected officers for the year ahead at their meeting this week. Carol Garber was re-elected chairman, and Clint Krumm was re-elected vice-chairman. New trustee Chad Baker was elected board treasurer, and Eric Lofgren was chosen as clerk. Also joining the board after being elected in November was Mercedes Biteman. In other action at the meeting, Garber and Krumm were appointed the school district’s representatives on the BOCHES board, and Krumm will serve on the BOCES board as well as the Little Blue School House board. ....
Published: 12/14/2020 5:33:18 PM The Contoocook Valley School Board and Contoocook Valley Education Association (CVEA) have announced they have reached an agreement on a one-year extension of the collective bargaining agreement. The extension will take effect July 1 and last through the 2021-22 school year, concluding on June 30, 2022. The extension of the contract will appear on the March 2021 warrant to be voted on by the nine ConVal communities. “I’m grateful for the spirit of cooperation that led to this agreement,” Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders said. “The process that led to an extension through the next academic year is a reflection of the fact that our first priority – both as a district and as educators – is ensuring our students’ get the education they deserve by focusing on their needs above all during this challenging time.” ....
