The ranks of Nigeria’s celebrated democrats, advocates for true federalism and non-tribalists reduced on January 13 with the sudden demise of Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (retd.). Born in 1943 in Ovim, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, Kanu joined the Nigerian Navy in 1962. He thereafter earned a Bsc at the National Defence Academy, India.
His dedication and resilience distinguished him in his chosen career. He was known to have served in varied positions in the naval command ranging from chief of personnel, naval headquarters; flag officer, eastern fleet; flag officer, naval training command; chief of naval operations, naval headquarters and director of logistics, joint operations. ....
