The movement that’s brought specialty coffee to many parts of Houston has mostly skipped River Oaks, but a new shop aims to change that. Meet
Duo Coffee & Pilates, a new cafe and fitness studio designed to serve residents of River Oaks, Upper Kirby, and Montrose (2147 Westheimer Rd.).
Married couple Karman and Marcus Lovely got into the pilates business five years ago. When they outgrew a smaller space, they searched for a larger location that would allow them to serve more clients and provide Marcus an opportunity to cultivate his interest in coffee. Popular Meyerland breakfast stop The Bagel Shop has officially opened another location, this time over in Bellaire, withpatio seating, a counter-style coffee bar with an espresso machine and pastries, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, deli favorites and grab-and-go items. Food Network Star chef Roshni Gurnani will helm the kitchen as executive chef, with chef Adriana Soto as the kitchen supervisor. Pop in for old favorites from whitefish salad and tuna fish salad to all the bagels, or try new items like the Falafel Burger, Elvis Schmelvish bagel sandwich and Deep Fried Blintzes.

Craft Burger Opens in Katy, Kosher Bagel Shop in Bellaire

Craft Burger, 21945 Katy Freeway, opened December 26. This is the first brick and mortar for Shannen Tune, who began the business as a highly successful food truck in 2015. Craft Burger then took up residence as one of the vendors at Finn Hall in December 2018, a downtown food hall that has been temporarily (we hope) closed due to the pandemic. During that time, Tune has been using a ghost kitchen at Blodgett Street Food Hall to operate multiple concepts including Thick Chick, which he debuted earlier this year. The new concept, which features spicy hot chicken sandwiches, will be on the menu at the new Craft Burger location as will Pecking Order, Tune s fried chicken brand. Tune plans to add rotisserie-style chicken and grilled chicken to the concept including jerk chicken as a nod to his wife Stacey s Jamaican upbringing. Stacey is also a professional chef. ....
