[email protected] BELPRE The Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce is encouraging shoppers to experience everything the Belpre area has to offer at its Shop Small/Shop Local event, May Madness, during regular business hours on May 15 in Belpre, Marietta, Parkersburg and Ohio 339 areas. The chamber partners with The Parkersburg News and Sentinel, Elite Signs and iHeart Radio for publicity, Karen Waller, chamber executive director, said. Chamber member businesses have been encouraged to offer specials that day or sponsor a drawing for a gift certificate or card usable at their location. Shoppers should watch for special Shop Small/Shop Local signs in front of Belpre Area retail sites on May Madness Saturday, Waller said. ....

The company has submitted a bid to purchase the bridge for $4 million and rehabilitate it to extend its useful life by a minimum of 50 years.
