The southbound closure is happening around mile marker 173, just north of Eastern Florida State College’s Palm Bay campus. Indian River County Sheriff’s Office officials tweeted the interstate is closed northbound near mile marker 156 due to blowing smoke.

The fire itself is actually in Indian River County. Northbound traffic is being diverted off the 156 Mile Post exit at CR-512 and southbound traffic is being diverted off the 166 Mile Post exit at St. John’s Heritage Parkway

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY A very active wildfire that started overnight has crept closer to Interstate 95, and now burns across 450 acres of the St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park, park and fire officials said Friday.
As a result, Interstate 95 likely will be closed all day from Palm Bay in Brevard County south to Fellsmere as multiple agencies work to extinguish the blaze east of Fellsmere, said park manager Dylan Gavagni, with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY A very active wildfire that started overnight has crept closer to Interstate 95, and now burns across 450 acres of the St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park, park and fire officials said Friday.
As a result, Interstate 95 likely will be closed all day from Palm Bay in Brevard County south to Fellsmere as multiple agencies work to extinguish the blaze east of Fellsmere, said park manager Dylan Gavagni, with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. It s close to I-95 at this point, he said.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported the fire just after 7:30 a.m. and stated northbound traffic was redirected at County Road 512, while southbound lanes were rerouted at St. John s Heritage Parkway in Brevard County.
