Bagels have been around for centuries but in 1610, they were first mentioned in the written records of Krakow, Poland. Bagels were later brought to New York City by Polish immigrants in the late 19th century but didn’t become popular in the Big Apple until the 1970s. Of course, bagels can be now be found in many shops in many different types of flavors.
I used to eat bagels a lot for breakfast when I was in high school. My Mom would go to the grocery store right when it opened, grab a huge bag of them in the discount bin and bring it home in time for breakfast. The chocolate chip bagels were always my favorite but nowadays they are a bit hard to find anywhere. Sam Haiby captured second-team All-Big Ten honors to headline a group of four Huskers who earned recognition when the all-conference teams were announced by the league office on Monday, March 8.
Haiby, a 5-9 junior guard from Moorhead, Minn., led the Huskers in scoring (17.0 ppg), assists (4.5 apg) and steals (1.2 spg) while ranking third on the team in rebounding (6.8 rpg). She is the only Big Ten women’s basketball player to rank among the top 12 in the conference in scoring (11th), rebounding (12th) and assists (8th). During the season, Haiby was a four-time selection to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll and her game-winning shot against No. 15 Northwestern on Dec. 31 was awarded ESPN SportsCenter’s Play of the Day.

Huskers Open Big Ten Tournament with Minnesota
The Nebraska women’s basketball team begins postseason tournament play this week when the Huskers travel to Indianapolis for the 2021 Big Ten Tournament.
The No. 8 seed Huskers (11-11, 9-10 Big Ten) tip-off tournament play on Wednesday by battling No. 9 seed Minnesota (8-12, 7-11 Big Ten) at 10 a.m. (CT) Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The game will be televised live by the Big Ten Network, while fans can also follow Nebraska with the Husker Sports Network call of Matt Coatney and
Jeff Griesch across the radio network stations, the Huskers App and Huskers.com.
Although Nebraska enters the tournament with a higher seed than the Golden Gophers, Minnesota swept the season series with the Huskers. Minnesota defeated Nebraska 73-63 in Minneapolis (Feb. 24).
