Although Mark Paolillo retired from the Select Board in 2019 after serving three terms, he has pulled papers to run for the three-year seat being vacated by Thomas Caputo in the upcoming April election. On Jan. 22, Caputo announced he will not be seeking re-election.
Paolillo said when he heard Caputo decided not to run he was disappointed, but understands his reasons. When I heard that, I understood there was a need. We re in the middle of a financial crisis here in belmont not only because of the pandemic but because it s been six years since the last override and frankly, we ve run it down and there s a need for additional tax receipts, said Paolillo.
