Art Walk set Saturday

Live music is featured, in addition to a display of new artwork, during the June 12 Second Saturday Art Walk scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. in downtown Brookings.

Art walk returns Saturday

The first Second Saturday Art Walk of 2021 is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. May 8 at five venues in downtown Brookings. Venues participating include Manley Art Center, Brian Scott and Signatures galleries, Semi Aquatic Gallery, Whimsical Griffin and Ambiance by the Sea. All venues are within two blocks of Chetco Avenue between Oak and Center streets. Masks and social distancing are required inside the buildings. The art walk will be canceled in the event of a lockdown. All venues are open for business and welcome spectators during normal operating hours. Leslie Wilkinson is the featured artist for the month at Pelican Bay Arts Association’s (PBAA) Manley Art Center, 433 Oak St. Her show is titled “Layers: An Exploration of Alternative Process Photography and Paper Collage Embracing the Japanese Concept of Wabi-sabi.”

Curry County Cultural Coalition awards $7,500 in grants

The Curry County Cultural Coalition, in a special grant cycle for 2021, awarded grants totaling $7,500 to 14 organizations whose projects most closely fit the goals and guidelines for the Oregon Cultural Trust and the CCCC. The purpose of the awards is to increase public participation in Oregon culture. An additional focus for the special grant cycle was to assist organizations with COVID-19, such as retooling to adapt the delivery of programs to conform with physical distancing and other public health and safety mandates. Eligible expenses included computer hardware and software, cameras, training, facility retrofitting and sanitizing, personal protective equipment and more. The recipients for special grant projects to be completed in 2021 are:
