Pat Nabong/Sun-Times The city’s 19th Ward which includes Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park is more than doubling the number of police cameras it has on the streets. Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) is using about $300,000 from a $1.3 million discretionary fund that every alderman gets for ward improvements to pay for 12 or 13 new cameras. The alderman said Friday he hopes the cameras will be installed by the end of summer. Eleven police cameras are now deployed in the ward. The police camera feeds are monitored nonstop by officers in a special room known as a Strategic Decision Support Center at the Morgan Park District station. ....

Dwain Williams was charged after authorities traced his DNA on a shoe he lost at the crime scene, Cook County prosecutors said Friday. Jaylen Saulsberry, 19, is one of two gunmen who shot at Williams in Morgan Park early last month, prosecutors said. However, authorities do not yet know whether Saulsberry fired the bullet that struck Williams in the abdomen outside of Let’s Get Poppin,’ at 11758 S. Western Ave. All four defendants were part of a “carjacking crew” believed to be responsible for other crimes in the Far South Side neighborhood, police said. ....

CBC Chicago says officers with the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Barron in Lansing, Illinois, making him the third of four suspected carjackers involved in the fatal incident. On December 17, 2020, Breitbart News noted a 15-year-old was arrested and faced charges of first degree murder in connection with Williams’ death. On December 18, 2020, Breitbart conveyed the news a second suspect, 18-year-old Dwain Johnson, had been arrested and charged with first degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Williams as well. ....
