Fire at Carrboro Apartment Complex Displaces Residents of 20 Units
Several residents of the Poplar Place apartment complex in Carrboro are displaced after a fire damaged more than a dozen units early Monday morning.
Carrboro fire officials reported a call for a fire at the complex, which is located off Old Fayetteville Road and Berryhill Drive, came shortly after 6 a.m. When crews arrived on the scene, firefighters found flames and smoke emitting from the roof of a 20-unit building.
The Carrboro Fire Department reported the roof collapsed amid its crews’ initial response, leading them to upgrade the blaze to a two-alarm fire and call more emergency services.

The Humane Society of Charlotte Breaks Ground on Long-Awaited Historic Animal Resource Center

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) – The Humane Society of Charlotte (HSC) will officially break ground on the new HSC Animal Resource Center on Tuesday, March 16 at 11:30 am. The new location of the 43-year old organization will be on Berryhill Drive, just east of Wilkinson Blvd., and will expand HSC’s life-saving efforts and innovative programs.
Construction on the new animal resource center, led by Myers & Chapman and designed by RL Architecture, is set to begin directly after the groundbreaking and is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2022.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Another shooting in Charlotte, another young man who was taken too soon.
Family and friends gathered Thursday night at Camp Greene Park to remember Noah Feaster. He was shot and killed at a home in the early morning hours last Friday. While the investigation into his death continues, the family finds themselves with more questions than answers.
“Y’all got to do better,” said the grandmother of Feaster’s 3-year-old son.
