Hooper View Comments Several schools in Alabama, including schools in Mountain Brook and Huntsville, have been attempting to introduce critical race theory into our students curriculum through the backdoor. They have been attempting to implement the Anti-Defamation League’s “No Place for Hate” program. This program is being pushed nationwide onto local school districts by the leftwing National Education Association (NEA). The National Education Association, which the Alabama Education Association is an affiliate, adopted an agenda item at their recent convention that stated, “it is reasonable and appropriate for curriculum to be informed by academic frameworks for understanding and interpreting the impact of the past on current society, including critical race theory.” ....

Ralph Vance Hooper. ROCKLAND Ralph Vance Hooper, 83, died Friday March 12, 2021 at Windward Gardens, surrounded by family. Ralph ultimately succumbed to complications from congestive heart failure. Ralph was born in Bucksport, on Nov. 12, 1937. He was the son of Floyd and Eula Hooper. Ralph, and his family, moved to Rockland at an early age. He attended Rockland area schools graduating from Rockland High School in 1956. It was at Rockland High School that he met his wife of 59 years Betty Lee. They were married on June 16, 1956. At 6’5” tall, Ralph was one of the tallest basketball players in the state at that time. He excelled at basketball and track and field. ....
