Bermudian Springs considers tax increase


The Bermudian Springs School Board unanimously adopted a preliminary budget for the 2021-22 school year that will require the district to dip into its reserves for a second year in a row.
The tentative budget calls for a 4.1 percent property tax increase, the maximum allowed by the Act I Index, but that percentage may be reduced or eliminated by the time the budget is finalized in June.
“Keep in mind it’s a preliminary budget. Whatever we establish, we cannot go up, we can only go down,” said Board President Michael Wool. “We’ve always adopted the index as the preliminary, but there have been a number of years we have not gone to the index.” ....

Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing
Political experience: This is my first venture into elected office.
Community involvement: Lake Meade Pack 88 Committee Chair for three years. During my three years, I assisted in organizing the annual pack calendar, fund raising, event planning, community service projects, food drives, annual recharter for Pack 88, baked cakes for Blue and Gold Banquet, welcomed girls into and all boy Scout Pack. (All girls were below the puberty age, had their own restrooms, and separate Den within the Pack.), garden maintenance at my church, Substitute school nurse for the Elementary School for two years.
What makes you the best candidate? I am the best candidate for Bermudian Springs School Board because my primary focuses are education and transparency. Since November, I have addressed our school board at every opportunity to return all students to five-day in-person instruction. I will hold the line on taxes; I think they are high enough ....
