MIAMI, Fla. – Long before COVID swept the nation, the medical profession was facing high levels of burnout marked by depression, substance abuse and suicide.
Industry experts say many have become more over-burdened by the administrative aspects of their jobs which takes away from direct patient care.
”Anyone who touches a patient, anyone who deals with patient care is, at a point in their life, right now where they’re being burdened whether it’s clerical or compliance or anything else that puts a barrier between them and their patients. Tucked away in a corner of the state of Coahuila, only a couple of hours from the United States border, lies a municipality with an open secret: two communities one of African descendants (called Mascogos in Mexico) and one of Kickapoo, both who fled the United States in the 19th century.
The twin communities are both called Nacimiento, referring to the birth of Jesus, but distinguished from each other not so subtly with the appendages

de los Indios. Both communities belong to the municipality of Muzquiz, a coal mining and ranching area.
The two ethnicities share similar stories: both were displaced on multiple occasions in the 19th century as the United States expanded and consolidated its hold on territories west and into Florida. Both groups would find at least a measure of asylum in Mexican territory, generally in exchange for military services. Both groups have familial and tribal connections to the United States. ....

2 killed, 1 seriously injured in Christmas Day head-on crash in Johnston County


JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) Two people were killed and one person was seriously injured in a head-on collision on Christmas night in Johnston County.
The crash occurred just after 8 p.m. on NC-96 near Davis Road north of Highway-231 in the Corinth Holders community.
Jimmy Bryant, 78, of Zebulon was driving southbound when he crossed the centerline and hit Fernando Mendoza, 44, of Zebulon, according to State Highway Patrol. Both drivers died at the scene.
A woman passenger was also pinned in the wreckage in Mendoza s car. She was removed and rushed to WakeMed hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. ....
