Local Senior Centers To Serve As COVID-19 Vaccine Hubs

The Los Alamos and White Rock senior centers found out recently that much like the flu vaccine distribution, will be a hub for the COVID-19 vaccine for seniors.
“I am so elated,” said Executive Director Bernadette Lauritzen of the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization, (LARSO), which operates the senior centers. “I am hopeful that those 60 and over that aren’t members would consider joining the centers, which is free, that way they would immediately be notified when dates are scheduled to register to receive the vaccine. It really demonstrates our worth to the state and county as senior centers.” ....

Positive COVID Case At White Rock Senior Center

The Los Alamos Retired Senior Organization (LARSO) announced this afternoon that there has been a positive COVID-19 case in the White Rock Senior Center.
The building is closed today, Thursday and Friday.
White Rock seniors are welcome to call 505.662.8920 and reserve a lunch at the Betty Ehart Senior Center in Los Los Alamos for Thursday ONLY and the lunch must be picked up there as well.
The annual holiday lunch sponsored by Enterprise Bank & Trust in White Rock is rescheduled for Friday, Jan. 8.
“Your reservations still stand, ONLY the date has changed. We apologize for the inconvenience,” LARSO Executive Director Bernadette Lauritzen said. “PLEASE check local media, our website, or social media for the latest information. Residents are always welcome to call 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily with any questions to 505.662.8920. Be sure to leave a message.” ....

To give you a visual of this COVID virus, it is a ripple on the pond after the stone is tossed, which starts a process.
I have always been vocal with my administration staff that if we have a positive test, we will be fully transparent. The reason is, how could the community trust us if we were to appear to hide something important? It was always a simmering pot on the back burner.
