Crown Sydney gaming floors to go cashless in fight against money laundering
Crown s newest $2.2 billion casino at Barangaroo might not accept cash in any of its gambling venues as the gaming giant works towards securing a suitable licence.

Crown has agreed with the Authority to make all gaming in its casinos cashless with card technology linked to identity and a recognised financial institution, the ILGA said in a statement.

Crown Perth extends suspension of gaming operations for four more days despite easing of local COVID-19 lockdown

Gaming and hospitality operations at Crown Perth will remain suspended for at least another four days after the government of Western Australia announced the implementation of interim restrictions for the Perth metropolitan region.
Perth had been placed into a three-day “circuit-breaker” lockdown from last Friday after a Victorian man who had been in hotel quarantine in Perth later tested positive upon returning home to Melbourne. It is believed the man, who had visited a number of locations across Perth upon completing his stay in quarantine, acquired the disease from an infectious family quarantining in the same hotel.
In a report tabled in NSW parliament in February, former judge Patricia Bergin found that Crown Resorts was not fit to run the gigantic new casino it has built at Barangaroo, on Sydney Harbour, but set out a pathway for the company to become a suitable operator.
Bergin found that Crown facilitated money laundering that took place at its existing casinos in Melbourne and Perth, and that junket operators who brought in high-rolling gamblers had links to organised crime.
She also criticised Packerâs influence over Crown when he was not on the board of the company, which included a secret agreement under which the company shared information with him that was not available to other shareholders, and his close involvement with the VIP gambling division, which handled the junkets.
