As you drive towards Maidstone on the A249, the silhouette of a pirouetting ballerina in the centre of a footbridge comes into view.

Jade s Crossing is passed by commuters every day
Many commuters driving under the bridge, which spans the A249 at Detling, may not know the terribly sad reason the structure was built and the tireless road safety campaigning which continued afterwards.
Twenty years ago today, eight-year-old Jade Hobbs and her grandma Margaret Kuwertz, 79, died while on their way to the shops, after walking across the dual carriageway, which was near their home in Pilgrims Way. Both were struck by a car. ....

Oando Foundation, NCF Promote Environmental Education in Schools, Communities

Oando Foundation (OF), an independent charity, has initiated a project to promote environmental education and sustainable action for pupils in target schools and host communities in Lagos State with support from Sumitomo Chemical, a Japanese Chemical Company.
NCF said in a statement that Sumitomo Chemical, Japan is the co-funding partner, while the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) is the implementing technical partner on the project.
The project, tagged ‘Clean Our World’ (COW), aims to promote environmental education and responsibility by creating awareness and empowering children and teachers in 7 public primary schools and their host communities with the knowledge of plastic recycling and waste management, whilst encouraging the adoption of eco-conscious lifestyles. Benefitting schools and communities include: Dele Ajomale Schools Complex (I–IV) Ilasamaja, Metropolitan Primary School, Orile-Iganmu, Olisa Primary School and Methodist Prim ....

A head teacher has been forced to go on parking patrols after parents repeatedly drive up grass verges and onto a shared green at pick up time.
Residents in Greenway in Barming who share their street with West Borough Primary School say twice a day they have a battle with inconsiderate parents who also block their driveways, park across pavements and spoil the grass their children play on.
