Was Beirut Explosion an Act of Terror? – American Free Press

By Dr. Kevin Barrett
President Donald Trump is reviled by mainstream media as a serial liar. Yet he has an unsettling habit of blurting out taboo truths the same truths that big media work overtime to conceal. From the JFK assassination (“Ted Cruz’s CIA-Cuban father may have been involved”) to 9/11 (“Bush was responsible”) to rape accusations against Bill Clinton (“Let’s chat with Bill’s accusers after our debate, Hillary”), Donald Trump has repeatedly broached subjects deemed off-limits by mainstream gatekeepers.
And now Trump has done it again. In the wake of the massive blast on August 4 that leveled the Port of Beirut and damaged much of the city, killing over 150 people and injuring more than 6,000, Trump said that he had spoken to “our generals” who said it was a bombing attack. Defense Secretary Mark Esper frantically contradicted Trump, insisting that the blast was generally believed to be an accident. A few hours later, Trump rebuffed Esper, ....

6 months after the Beirut Port blast, people are grasping to survive

Ammar Abd Rabbo
At the same time, Lebanon s economy and health sector have deteriorated during the pandemic.
We lost everything we had and have nothing else to lose, blast victim Mehieddine Lazkani said.
Mehieddine Lazkani, a Lebanese student and part-time hospital worker, is still reeling from the Beirut port blast.
Six months ago, his father was killed in the blast and like many Lebanese people, since then, his personal and collective grief has only deepened.
Lazkani is the main breadwinner in his family, making less than $100 a month; all four of his siblings are students.
When it comes to the atmosphere at home, we re still in a state of shock, Lazkani told Insider. We still have nightmares. Our father was the main pillar of our household. ....

Tough times for Lebanon's biggest optimist | Beirut explosion News

It was a brave assertion even before Lebanon’s terrible downfall over the past year or so.
Now, after the country suffered one of the world’s worst financial implosions coupled with one of the largest non-nuclear explosions, the statement seems to border on the ludicrous.
But Rahayel’s views are intentionally out of step with Lebanon’s recent public image. The boundlessly optimistic food blogger sees himself as an ambassador for the real Lebanon, “Lebanon as not seen on TV or in the news”, as he puts it.
Read his reviews, published on his blog No Garlic No Onions, or watch his videos on YouTube and you will indeed see a very different perspective; one where Lebanon’s God-given potential to be a tourist haven could soon be realised; where the rich community spirit and heritage of the Lebanese trumps their degrading, divisive politics; where food is served neither too hot nor too cold, nor too salty, nor too sweet. ....
