Fresh from his successful fiction debut, Macroom author and former school principal Con Lynch has embarked on a new writing project. Masseytown-based Con raised a considerable amount of money for local charities from the proceeds of his first novel, Along The Right Path , which he self-published and launched last March, just before the pandemic took hold. Now Con has embarked on the research for a new series of books which focus on the priests, brothers and nuns from Macroom and surrounding areas. An initial survey has unearthed seventy seven names of clergy in the parish of Baile Mhúirne alone. These include several fascinating characters who served in many different roles all over Ireland and across the globe. ....

The past twelve months, the age of the new normal , was when the year of living dangerously meant dicing with death by going to the shops; putting your life in peril going to Mass or placing yourself in the lap of the Gods with a saunter down the pub for a pint of an evening. Our elderly relatives living in the care and comfort of nursing homes whom we thought were safe and secure were, in fact, especially vulnerable.
