Atay: Our Biggest Test and We’re Really Excited

Town’s U18s host Liverpool in an FA Youth Cup semi-final at Portman Road this evening (KO 6pm) and manager Adem Atay says his squad can already be proud of what they have achieved in the competition this season.
The young Blues secured their place in the last four with a 3-2 after-extra-time victory over Sheffield United in a remarkable quarter-final last month. The winners of tonight’s tie will play West Brom or Aston Villa in the final with the two Midlands clubs meeting at Villa Park on Friday.
Alexander: It Really is the Stuff of Dreams

Fraser Alexander admits it is “the stuff of dreams” as he prepares to lead the Town U18 side against their Liverpool counterparts in tomorrow’s FA Youth Cup semi-final at Portman Road.
The game, which kicks off at 6pm and is being covered live by BT Sport, is the young Blues’ reward for eliminating Southend, Chelmsford, Fulham, Swindon, Middlesbrough and, most recently, Sheffield United to earn a place in the last four of the country’s most prestigious youth tournament.
Alexander has been at the club for a decade, since he accepted an invitation to join the academy when he was eight, and recalled: “I came in when I was really young and I have photos of the various squads all the way through from the U7s to the U18s. So it’s a huge honour to captain this team, especially with what we’ve achieved and the performances we’ve put in.
Young U23s Side Beaten at Cardiff

A young Town U23s side fell to a 4-0 defeat away at Cardiff City this afternoon, Isaak Davies scoring twice and Kieron Evans and Roland Idowu once each for the Welshmen.
No senior players were included in the Town U23s, who also have a friendly against Brentford’s B team at Playford Road tomorrow afternoon [which has subsequently been called off]. There is also an in-house game involving first-teamers and also perhaps some of the development squad.
It’s likely regular U23s players such as Armando Dobra, Elkan Baggott, Zak Brown and Tyreece Simpson will be involved in those matches.
Wyss Nets as U23s Beat Eagles

Ben Wyss was on target as the Blues’ U23s beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Playford Road on Saturday afternoon.
The full-back’s goal just before the break came as a result of a 25-pass move which started deep in Town s half.
Coaches Kieron Dyer and Terry Butcher fielded a different XI in each half of the game against the Eagles, who have a category one academy and play in Premier League Two Division Two.
First half: Wright, Wyss, Kabongolo, Smith, Trialist, Healy, Humphreys, Z Brown, K Brown, Page, Simpson.
