Texas Bill Would Draw a Line in the Sand on Federal Gun Control
AUSTIN, Texas (Jan. 18, 2021) – A bill prefiled in the Texas House for the 2021 legislative session would set the foundation to nullify future federal gun control in practice and effect.
Rep. Ben Leman (R-Brenham) prefiled HB 919 (HB919) on Dec. 30. The bill prohibits state agencies and law enforcement officers from having “contract with or in any other manner provide assistance to a federal agency or official with respect to the enforcement of a federal statute, order, rule, or regulation purporting to regulate a firearm, a firearm accessory, or firearm ammunition if the statute, order, rule, or regulation imposes a prohibition, restriction, or other regulation, such as a capacity or size limitation or a registration requirement, that does not exist under the laws of this state” that was enacted after September 2021. ....

The move from the Republican governor comes amid mounting fears about the safety of Americans constitutional rights as anti-gun Democrats seize power in Washington, D.C.

In the county’s latest reports for the first four days of the new year, there are 61 New Cases, 33 Recoveries, 7 New In-Patient hospitalizations, and 89 total COVID-19 hospitalizations.
The 14 day new case count is currently 130, and the TSA Q Hospital Capacity sits at 18.21 percent, which is still over the 15 percent threshold for coronavirus patients.
If the percentage of COVID-19 patients in a hospital region exceeds 15 percent for seven consecutive days, many businesses in the region would be ordered to reduce capacity to 50 percent, and Bars with a TABC 51 percent Red License would be ordered to close in accordance with Gov. Greg Abbott’s statewide orders. ....
