COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior All-American thrower Adelaide Aquilla has been named this week’s Big Ten Conference field athlete of the week. Aquilla is the second Buckeye to be honored this season as sprinter Anavia Battle was named track athlete of the week Jan. 20.
Aquilla, the defending Big Ten indoor champion in the shot put, launched the shot 17.13m/56-2 ½ to win the competition at the SPIRE B1G Invite last weekend in Geneva, Ohio. The effort was the fifth-longest throw of the indoor season nationally and it also represented Aquilla’s third win in four meets, after wins at the Simmons-Harvey Invite Jan. 16 and the Penn State Invite Jan. 23.
