Penn State's Alpha Delta Chapter of Kappa Sigma suspended by university | State College News

On March 8, Penn Stateâs Alpha Delta Chapter of Kappa Sigma was suspended through December 2024 for multiple violations against university policies.
As an earlier interim suspension case was being investigated, the fraternity more recently violated the universityâs coronavirus policies, according to a Penn State News release.
In October 2020, the Kappa Sigma fraternity was placed on interim suspension while the Penn State Office of Student Conduct investigated allegations related to hazing, alcohol or drugs, failure to comply with a directive or condition, and University regulations, according to the release.Â
The national organization was notified of the Penn State Kappa Sigma chapter and has suspended the chapterâs operations pending a hearing before the national organizationâs supreme executive committee for a decision on its future status. ....

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Teams of entrepreneurial undergraduate Penn State students can apply for microgrants of up to $500 in seed money to help get their ideas off the ground.
The microgrants are provided through Lion LaunchPad and in cooperation with the Penn State College of Engineering and its School of Engineering Design, Technology, and Professional Programs’ (SEDTAPP) engineering entrepreneurship (E-SHIP) program. The funding can help student teams during the very early stages of their idea development and help prepare them to later compete in business competitions at Penn State, as well as enter programs such as the Happy Valley Launchbox FastTrack Accelerator, Summer Founder Program from Invent Penn State and TechCelerator through Ben Franklin Technology Partners. ....

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Undergraduate students can now schedule one-on-one appointments with experienced student researchers to learn more about how to get involved in research at Penn State.
The Undergraduate Research Ambassadors program, from Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Mentoring (URFM), began in fall 2020 as the first cohort of student ambassadors was trained to promote undergraduate research at Penn State. Among their responsibilities, ambassadors present to classes and organizations at Penn State, serve as panelists at events and lead information sessions. ....

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence invites instructors to register for its online New Instructor Orientation (NIO) course.
The course, which is self-directed through Canvas, is offered to all instructors new to Penn State at no charge. It gives a brief introduction to Penn State resources and processes that are crucial to successful teaching at the University. Cindy Decker Raynak, senior instructional designer, and Beate Brunow, associate research professor, at the Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence, will moderate the course. ....
